Reliving the glory days (Click here to see photos)
It's no secret that I hardly model anymore. It's a cutthroat industry, even in the alt scene. It gets very lonely and isolating, especially when you hope to make friends and find community with other models and creatives, and it doens't work out that way. Either way, I miss it and I look back on the creative projects I got to be a part of fondly. Feel free to give these oldies some more love! Enjoy~
My New Print Shop
So something happened on here and I was shocked that I wasn't more happy about it than I should be.
Someone purchased a print from me on here! How wonderful! Like seriously, thank you. However, I noticed that by selling through Deviantart, not only do I get somewhat screwed over by the earnings I make (only 20% per sale) but it is also super impersonal.
I do have an etsy where I not only sell my crafts but prints as well as other art goodies! By buying my prints from there you are not only supporting me directly, but you get a signed (or unsigned if you prefer) print that comes with a bunch of goodies and a handwritten letter from me.

How long have you been belly dancing? You have very good hip work and I like some of the arm movements you do (something I don't always keep in check when I'm performing), but there are a few points when you could work on it. Did you choreograph this prior to recording this, or was it freestyle?
A couple tips: You keep your elbows bent at certain points while you're dancing. At some points it is fine, but extending the arms a bit farther can help. A couple of times, it's to push the hair out of your face (something I am alos guilty of), but you did a couple moves that stood out quite a bit and also would take the hair out of your face. Both are things I have to watch out for myself as well. My other tip isn't quite as major, but facial expressions can do wonders and add an extra something special (not a lot of other dancers I see use this). Another minor tip: the billowing black skirt and your hair help balance each other out, but the added volume of the red veil could have had another piece on top to help balance it out some. When your arms are above your head, it helps thanks to the gloves. I did notice the choker when it wasn't concealed by shadows, but some sort of design close to your neck (an intricately designed necklace, some form of makeup pattern, or possibly even a red hair clip could help. It isn't a major thing, but it might help sometime.
Things I think you did really well with: I think you are pretty good at hip work! Some of your arm movements add a flair fitting of both you and the music, and the layered arm, wrist, and hip movements gave a rather enthralling effect. The costume you pulled together overall I feel fits the tone of the song, and I haven't seen someone weave a scarf (or is it a veil?) in their skirt like that before. I enjoyed when you bent backward so we could see your face eighteen seconds into the video. It was very striking. The location you chose to dance proved to work well, as the contrast of the shadows and light from the window added to the feel of the song and a nice lighting effect very close to chiaroscuro. Light mostly caught on your navel and arms, which helped draw the eye there (As if you needed it! That's where everyone would be watching you anyway with your smooth movements, I can tell some of it comes from modeling.). The chest work you did helped punctuate your arm movements, though the hips and some belly were still the focus of this dance.
On another note, the video being widescreen doesn't make you look shorter, in my opinion. The fireplace and windows flanking you look pretty large, but you don't look particularly short, you look close to 5'6 or 5'7 which is taller than most of the girls I know. It's nice to see someone else who loves fantasy, darker themes, and belly dancing! I look forward to seeing more of your work!
